One of the most innovative and fun events at Lock & Load is the Iron Painter Showdown. Following the format of the popular television show Iron Chef®, the Iron Painter Showdown pits contestants against one another in a competition requiring skill, speed, creativity, and grit. A surprise competitor will challenge the contestants, with a surprise ingredient and all will need to adapt quickly and expect the unexpected in order to take home the grand prize.
So who is the surprise competitor and what is the surprise ingredient? Well, the surprise competitor is none other than Privateer Press studio painter Matt DiPietro. And the surprise ingredient…well, it’s easier if I just show you. Yup, that’s right, the Iron Painters had to paint a cavalry model in forty minutes. At the end of it, after enduring numerous challenges that included painting with Murderous Magenta, painting with the left hand only, painting standing up, and other devious tortures concocted by MC Will Shick, Nathan Bosa emerged as the Iron Painter. Check out his handiwork below; not bad for the time and challenges he faced, eh?
